Starting at the age of 4, Tiko was trained as a classical pianist, a skill she continued to master until the age of 17. Although she loved the piano, it was at a young age that Tiko knew within her heart it was her passion to sing. Born and raised on the south side of Chicago, Tiko spent many of her growing years singing in the church. Being able to touch others with just her voice has always been a humbling experience for her.
While in highschool, Tiko joined the Soul Children of Chicago, where she was an active alto member. She accompanied the choir on various engagements, including singing acapella on the Oprah show during Martin Luther King's birthday celebration. It was during her time with this choir that she realized that singing was what she was meant to do.
Tiko went to the University of Michigan and while there, she became an active member of the Michigan Gospel Chorale. Tiko graduated with a B.S.E. in Civil Engineering. While she is currently working in this field...her passion for music still remains strong.
Tiko has been influenced throughout the years by artists such as Mary J. Blige and Lauryn Hill, because of their ability to touch others through great music. Tiko wishes to accomplish the same through her music for years to come...
