SHATTERED HEROES is a dramatic action film set in WWII that explores the issues of PTSD/Shell-shock and it's effects on one Airborne Captain as he struggles to lead his men to safety through the D-Day operations of German occupied Normandy.
Shattered Heroes tells a dramatic story based upon fictionalized accounts of a real life unit during WWII. Baker Company, 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. Led by Capt. James Russell, this was one of the most ill fated, misdropped units of the whole operation that, while facing overwhelming odds and greatly out numbered, still made a significant impact upon D-Day. This film Relates to many veterans right now who were not treated properly for PTSD. Common issues among veterans such as homelessness, social disorders/depression, and alcoholism evolved from the improper treatment of PTSD. The end of the film and adjoining documentary will have short interviews from surviving WW2 veterans concerning their war and post war experiences with PTSD and how it effected them, then on to Korean, Vietnam, then ending interviews with current Iraq War veterans thus making this a timeless and present day issue.
