About Me

The journey begins at the local DNB night in Nottingham, the first of many visits for the novice DJPOLICY, I had not yet came up with that DJ name as I was only just getting into the scene. I was 15 and about to leave secondary school, at that age when I would meet my mates and go to town Every weekend to get drunk and have some fun. I didn’t really get on with the main stream nights with all the cheesy pop crap and was into Hip-Hop with a mate who luv’d hardcore and jungle. So we thought we would venture to a night called Rewind at a club called Deluxe. Man that shit was hot, I think we had found our niche.

That was it I knew what I wanted to do with my life and my mate was feeling the same, we would then go to every gig we could in Nott’s and out of town, by this time we had met other like minded people, One of which introduced us to Djing, he was a DNB DJ and had showed us the basic’s. All I had in mind was get some deck’s and get started. We had also met some guy’s that we knew from secondary school who were older and had built a sound system and were doing gig’s, The DSF (Dark Sound Foundation), one member in particular DJ MG took us like a Shaolin master and we we’re his prodigal sons. Teaching us all the rope’s, unfortunately my partner in crime had lost the drive I had to get on the stage and entertain the masses, but this didn’t stop me. After a couple of years of hardcore training on the decks I thought it I would take up producing and sound engineering, so I joined a college called Confetti and did a course in music tech and sound engineering, this took my knowledge of music a lot higher. During this period I had set up my own mini studio and was in the lab all the time, making two or three tunes every couple of days and getting better every time. I had also started DJing at a night called Bass Camp run by DSF, playing at several clubs in Nottingham with the crew and their massive sound systems, this was where I wanted to be. Me and a mate thought we would start our own night, nothing big as we didn’t have the funding, so we Approached a couple of late night bar’s and small clubs and found a nice spot called Synergy. We had a meeting with the club owner and he was up for what we had in mind. A local DNB – Hip-Hop night every week with free entry, it was a bit like a party warm up session because there was always a big night .. so we would get all the students and local DNB crew’s coming to start their night off. At present I’m working on an album and to get some tunes pressed for single release my heads deep in the lab at the minute and I’m cooking up some treats for the dance floor. Check out the tunes on here and you can download them from ajtunes.com/POLICY. Remember; support the real we are the future.
