About Me

"You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty" — Mahatma GhandiIt is with this quote that I shall declare a retirement of my constant bitching about people on Myspace being morons. I've actually found this whole thing to be very worthwhile, allowing me to keep in contact with people I once knew, and strengthen bonds with people I hardly knew before. It's supposedly 'A Place For Friends', and I'm almost willing to say I'm pleased to be part of Myspace. Even if it is owned by a very, very rich bastard, and even though it is polluted with lots and lots of dirty drops.Maybe we all mellow out as we get older. I still hate all the shitty stuff which I have moved to a blog, but it's all been done to death. I live with some of my best friends in a big flat and its the best thing ever. I get to talk to new interesting people all the time in clubs, pubs, parties and gigs. I study Media Writing at Southampton Solent University, which despite the reluctance to begin with has been wicked. New friends, new experiences, new interest in life. Bosh!For anyone wondering, I now make money working at Topman. It doesnt mean I'm a fashion enthusiast or up my own arse at all. It just means I can eat. Ultimately I'd like to sing for a living. I'd also like to learn new skills and find the good in other people's interests. I find being open-minded makes a person a whole lot more interesting and easy to get on with. -------------- DesiderataGo placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.
---------- Sounds like bollocks, but honestly. Do things you love doing, strive to achieve your potential, and make reasons to look forward to tomorrow, and life, no matter how much of a drag, turns out to be a very fun game indeed. Mason smacks Moose

My Interests

I don't know if I've made this obvious at all, but I like a good rant. Aside from this, I enjoy spending time with friends and playing in my band, ALMEIDA . That's my one ambition, to be able to create and perform music at such a level where I don't have to be someone's bitch to earn a living.
Things that make me smile are:A decent hug from somebody who actually fucking means it
House Parties. Not formal ones. The best ones are the ones where you can fall asleep on the floor and people can make a fort out of your body and a load of cushions. None of this 'Get out of my Community Centre' rubbish.
Kicking a ball around with mates, even though pretty much none of us are very good. Sometimes a wicked match will ensue, but playing awfully is just as fun as moments of skill.
Shows of friendship and unity (in general, not specifically towards me). The kind of stuff that makes you feel warm inside.
Being loud and embarressing and not giving a shit. If I'm like this it means I'm in a good mood. Nobody but me is going to spoil that thank you very much.
Watching Disney films on a Sunday evening with my chums. We havent done this in a while and its a void that has yet to be filled.
Caning loads of cheeba with the boys
Going to/playing gigs and getting lost in the music. Although music is man made, there is a natural feeling that comes from it that cannot be replicated.
Meeting cool new people / bumping into old friends
Who doesn't love this stuff though!

I'd like to meet:

"You should never meet your heroes, you'll only be disappointed."- Father Dougal Maguire, Father Ted Since I believe this to be the case, I'd like to meet some fascist morons to throw eggs at.
Nick Griffin (Leader of British National Party) would be a great start. I'd be honoured to introduce his nutsack to my right foot. I'm sure they'd get on beautifully.Subtleties aside, cunts like him I'd have no hesitation to run over in a fucking tank. If you are thinking of messaging me but are afraid that your personality will conflict with mine, do it anyway. I like strong minded people so much more than fence sitters. Variety is the spice of life and I respect anyone who can see through the first impressions of me (and everyone else) and approach me as not worse, not better but equal to them. Some people who are very close to me started off terms in an argument about something or other.

Music:

"We'll play to our deaths for we posses true happiness.
We are finally free.
Dying with our one passion, music,
The greatest wealth of them all.
We must play on."
'Aesthetic' - Between the Buried and MeAnyone who encompasses this attitude into creating music. If there's no feeling in it, I don't want to hear it. My favourite albums of all time are:

Books:

Ben Elton - High Society All my other favourite books are either by Ben Elton, or are kids' books and from a Writing student's perspective thats really awful.
C'est La Vie.

Heroes:

TONY MOTHERFUCKIN' ALMEIDA
I have no non-fictional heroes, only the people who inspire and influence me more than anyone else. Those would be my close friends and to an extent, my parents. If you want famous people I look up to, you'd probably get most of them from the bands I listed.I look up to anyone who can make me think, smile, laugh or cry.I don't aspire to be like anybody else. People who do are the types of people who have 'Not much to say really' written underneath the 'A Little About Me' section. I am me, and will only stop being me when I croak it.

A Lazy 2006 Review
