Sadie Williams
was born in Saint James, Jamaica April 1, 1983 where she was orphaned at an early age. As a young adult she moved to Kingston, Jamaica where she lived and worked for many years before migrating to Ontario, Canada. In 1972 she moved to Pennsylvania where she worked and became an active member of the Mennonite Church.
Ms. Williams is known to volunteer her services to her community with organizations such as the Atlanta Project, The Fulton Atlanta Community Action Authority, as well as her own organization, The Promise Children's Home Inc, which was incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1992. She was nominated and chosen by the United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta to carry the 1996 Olympic torch for her College Park community. She was also a TBS Super 17 nominee for the year 2000, for commitment in volunteerism and community service.
Ms. Williams is also a member of the International Society of Poets and has recieved an international Poet of merit award in Washington DC in 1999. Her latest project has been in the writing of her autobiography, titled "the Other Side of Sadie", with some of the proceeds going towards funding of the Promise Children's Home Inc.
"The Other Side of Sadie", is a true story written by the author(Sadie Williams), as she reveals her dramatic adventure through life as an orphan, from age seven to seventy-two. Her heartwarming poems depict hope, struggle, encouragement and wisdom, for today's youth and adults alike.
