My artwork comes from a fascination with people. This fascination, even as a child, has greatly influenced my art. Expression is the primary theme in my work. Each piece portrays a certain emotion in order to lead the viewer on a journey of self-exploration.Faces can convey mystery, insight and power. These are the qualities I want to translate into my art, rather than an exact representation of a person. Even though my pieces are not always based directly on an actual person, they are sometimes based on a combination of people I know as well as those I've observed during my day to day.My art can be characterized by composition, design, and mood, creating a sense of honesty. My work may seem deceptively uncomplicated to some at first sight. However, upon a closer look one can see the complexities of my art. A lot of my work is in black & white; I feel it brings more attention to the subject as well as the lines of the images, giving the piece a strong presence.Im a self-taught artist from Vallejo CA.
