About Me

My artwork comes from a fascination with people. This fascination, even as a child, has greatly influenced my art. Expression is the primary theme in my work. Each piece portrays a certain emotion in order to lead the viewer on a journey of self-exploration.Faces can convey mystery, insight and power. These are the qualities I want to translate into my art, rather than an exact representation of a person. Even though my pieces are not always based directly on an actual person, they are sometimes based on a combination of people I know as well as those I've observed during my day to day.My art can be characterized by composition, design, and mood, creating a sense of honesty. My work may seem deceptively uncomplicated to some at first sight. However, upon a closer look one can see the complexities of my art. A lot of my work is in black & white; I feel it brings more attention to the subject as well as the lines of the images, giving the piece a strong presence.Im a self-taught artist from Vallejo CA. My art has been featured in Art Business News and has been shown in Los Angles, Philadelphia, Chicago and New York. You can check out my artwork at WWW.AUSTINSART.COM...Create or get your
