Welcome to the Green Pepper Hockey League!
You’re now a friend of the 9th season of Edmonton’s arts and bars hockey league!
History
The Green Pepper hockey league was the brainchild of local talent buyer (and hockey nut) Brent Oliver. Over the last 8 seasons, the league as gone through highs (the Corb Lund Band winning the trophy) and lows (Brent loses his right eye by an errant puck in the first season) - but has always been the best place for the guys and gals of Edmonton's bar and band scene to share their love of the game!
Described by current league commissioner Jenn Elliott as a "root beer league" the GPHL encourages all players of hockey, past and present to hang out for some beer on a Sunday afternoon, and just maybe - play a little hockey.
This year's 9th season kicked-off officially in October 2006 at the Edmonton Ice Box in the West end of Edmonton. Admission is free for every game, and paramedics are available upstairs to distribute essential fluids - in pint form.
Thanks again for your interest in the Green Pepper Hockey League - and we'll see you Sunday!
