About Me

Many progressive rock artists write songs about medieval times, space travel, visions and other cosmic debris but that's not my schtik. I write about real life and the world around us. My first solo CD, TRACKS, released in 2004 was written in the immediate post-9/11 period when the economic bubble had just popped and everything seemed quite bleak. It certainly reflects that period and is possibly my darkest release to date. In 2005 I relesed LAYERS. My studio was finished by the time I recorded it so the production qualities show more polish and the mood is not quite as gloomy. The song "Celebrity Circus", a poke in the eye to stars of all media types, was included on the iTunes Modern Prog Essentials compilation along with The Mars Volta, Dream Theater, Glass Hammer, Porcupine Tree, Frogg Cafe and Salem Hill which brought me a degree of exposure and many downloads as well ;-) For my third CD, ELEMENTS, which came out in November of 2006, I focused on the subject of global warming and climate change. I also brought in more of my fellow travelers to play and sing various things. Brian Phraner (Medusa, Phreeworld) provided bass guitar and backing vocals as he has on all my releases. Mark Phraner (Medusa, Mania, Phreeworld) fronted vocally on some songs as did Freddy Krumins (Mania, Freddy Krumins, James Byrd's Atlantis). Don Freeborn (Medusa, Mania, Phreeworld) played drums. Bruce Jones co-wrote and played piano on "Feel the Rain" and Matt Main played bass clarinet on "Things of Earth". I, as always, wrote, sang, played guitars and keyboards, recorded, mixed, mastered and designed the packaging. Thanks to all who have supported me and enjoyed my music so far and welcome to all of you who are hearing me for the first time. A special shout out to Ron Fuchs of www.prognaut.com fame who put up this MySpace site for me. I'm so busy writing and recording that the marketing part of the music biz just slips my mind! Speaking of writing, I have already started on number four. So far it has a harder edge, more electric shall we say. I think I can tell you without giving too much away that the subject matter concerns the cyberworld we all inhabit. Cheers! For more info & clips go to www.brucemain.com !
