Take vintage garments that the former model-cum-actress-cum-designer has amassed over years of global travel and rework them into fabulously flattering one-of-a-kind bikinis. The first of which were quickly snapped up by LA notables Fred Segal and Planet Blue, and have since spread to several boutiques across the country. “After years of trolling store after store, boutique after boutique, I realized something was missing. I just couldn’t consistently find a bikini to wear!” So she took matters into her own hands and developed a business plan which consisted of one strong pattern and future JUNGLEGURL stores where “People could come and have a truly enjoyable experience shopping for bikinis and,” with a wink, “sip on a cocktail!”Upon entering the Silverlake home/design studio that she shares with her assistant, a Calico cat called Kenya; one need only view her countless photos to see where she gets her inspiration and love of life. Be it the snapshots of her childhood taken in Fiji and the islands of Hawaii where her father, “Jungle,” still patrols the sea; or recent prints taken during her jaunts to Paris and Italy as a designer for AG Jeans; or even the paparazzi-like flicks of Natalie and friends making their rounds in LA, it’s easy to see that JUNGLEGURL is much more than a swimsuit. It is a way of life. “Exactly,” interjects the quintessential Junglegurl, “It’s for the girl that just left the rodeo in Prescott (Arizona, where she attended high school).
