The Swedish international joined Arsenal in September 1998 and immediately endeared himself to the Highbury faithful with a goal on his debut against Manchester United. He was named Barclaycard Player of the Season in 2002 after scoring seven goals in seven games at the end of the campaign.
His presence on the right flank lends Arsene Wenger's young team much needed tenacity and experience and he flourished when a 4-5-1 formation was adopted in the Champions League.

# Freddie scored in both the 2001 and 2002 FA Cup Finals, the first player to score in consecutive finals for 40 years!
# Ljungberg's team mates call him Biggles because Freddie says he would have liked to have been a fighter pilot if he had not made the grade in football!
# Freddie suffers from migraine headaches a lot and as a consequence avoids eating cheese and drinking red wine!
# Freddie Ljungberg missed 4 weeks of football one season after he suffered an allergic reaction to his tattoos!
# Freddie began training with Halmstads when he was 5 years old and has saved the boots he wore then and has still got them!
# Ljungberg almost became an 'Owl' but rejected a move to Sheffield Wednesday in favour of Arsenal, joining the Gunners for £3 milliion on 12th Sept 1998!
# When he was younger Freddie played Handball and Ice Hockey, as well as football. He was even called up for the Swedish National Handball squad but had to decide between a handball and football career & ultimately had to turn the offer down!
