About Me

Born in Jersey, November-1981, Acorn Morocco was the second child of his single mother Marianne. Shortly after his birth, Marianne with children, would travel west and settle in a section of San Diego, California. After a 2-3 year stay, the three returned back east, and moved in with Morocco’s father in North Philadelphia. That's where the kid got his first taste of Hip-Hop...There are four things I vividly remember from those years: Criminal Minded, Rob Base, Kane, and learning to ride my bike. But those years went fast, and in 1990 my mother moved on, and we moved out of my father's place to a suburb in South Jersey. I'd return to Philly for summers and weekends to see my father and visit the old-way.A few years, houses, and schools later, and I was a Jock and Hip-Hop aficionado. It was then, my first senior year, that I met John Lawson, a percussion prodigy originally from Germantown. Since we were both from Philly, and we both loved the music, we hit it off immediately. John's the one who pulled me into the studio the first time, and the person who's studio it was, was Christopher Arter, a piano-man and gorilla guitarist from Somerdale, NJ. The three of us made some really dope tracks together. But then crisis struck and Chris got mauled by a lion while out on safari... (Just kidding). We just all got lives and girlfriends and shit, and decided to pack it in.I'm doing the thing solo for now, making the music when I can.Scared to death, I put my first demo out around August, 2006. The demo got reviewed in December by a local Philly rock mag called, The Compedium. The mag gave it 3 out of 4 stars, and I wanted more, but I'll take it. Shit, the article itself was enough for me. Plus, those 3 out of 4 stars winked at me and said, "Acorn, keep going baby. It's all in the wrist kid. It's all in the wrist."
