--- Nothing you see here is my own work. Everything is from old issues of (the now-defunct) British magazine THE FACE. I'm currently showing only a few of over 600 double-page images that I have from THE FACE 1994-2002.
Simon and Garfunkel - The Sound of Silence [Central Park 1981].
--- I was recently married to my partner of 13 years.
--- I went to crap junior schools but managed to graduate with a first class BA in cultural studies and sociology from the university of Birmingham and an MA in social research. I'm about to complete a Ph.D in sociology.
--- I'm interested in most forms of art. I prefer the darker artists in most mediums but I haven't completely abandoned romantic or hopeful worldviews and artists.
Suede - New Generation.
--- Music is my favourite artform, although I have zero musical talent and even less musical training. I've had obsessions with almost every musical form at various phases of my life.
Portishead - Humming.
--- From September 2006 to March 2007 I worked on a photography project titled "Photographing the Multitude". I took over 800 candid portraits of people on the streets of Birmingham, England. You can see them at myspace.com/gloaming101 . I intend to resume the project in other cities some time in the future.
--- I'm fascinated by the relationship (conflict?) between creativity and money. I'm not so optimistic that I think there is total freedom of expression in the various arts. Neither am I so cynical that I think that creativity is completely determined by the major brands or corporations. One of the major questions in sociology is about the relative influence of "top down" and "bottom up" social forces, "structure" against "agency", the individual against economics; I believe the arts generally and especially fashion in clothing epitomize these questions.
