“We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” -- George Bern

About Me

If you can imagine the Steel Magnolia Women in a Sex in the City episode directed by and co-starring Chevy Chase, you know about me and my life with my best girlfriends - the official redneck debutantes! I'm a 49-yr-old female who lives life to its fullest. My two sons, 21 and 13, keep me on my toes 24/7, and are great fun to hang around with. I'm blessed in all aspects of my life. I live in Birmingham, Alabama and am currently working on a website business, www.redneckdebutantes.com. Before this, I worked for public television and a community newspaper, where I was the graphic designer/production manager. I've also planned special events, raised money for non-profits, and worked in advertising and public relations.

My Interests

I love spending time with my family and friends, especially on Friday nights when a bunch of us are gathered around "Tricia's Slab" (the island in my kitchen). I also enjoy going to live shows, listening to music, and traveling.

I'd like to meet:

My great grandmother Lengelson, because of all the stories I heard about her. My late husband's grandfather because of the kind of man I heard he was. And authors and artists, famous or not because I admire the gumption it takes to step out and entertain and enlighten.

Music:

I enjoy most types of music, including rock - both classic and soft, big band, classical, folk/ballads, beach music, oldies, classical, and country. Really the only music I don't like is rap.

Movies:

Funny ones: Love Actually, Talladega Nights, Dogma, Napoleon Dynamite (actually named two cats after that movie), Borat Drama: Heat, A Bronx Tail, Pride & Prejudice Musicals: The Sound of Music, Phantom of the Opera. Comedy - Spam-a-lot!

Television:

Don't watch it much except the news, but I do enjoy watching stand-up comedy or Law and Order from time to time.

Books:

DaVinci Code, Tuesdays With Morrie, most novels by Sidney Sheldon and James Patterson Also read self-help books as needed - or as a doctor told me once, "I read just enough to be dangerous!"

Heroes:

My two sons, who after losing their father, kept on living and learning to love life again. They really do complete me and I am very proud of both of them. Even though they have very different personalities and are 7 years apart, they are very close and have allowed me to stay their "cool mom" through the teenage years.
