Lovable. Humorous. Teddy Bear. Musical Genius. That would describe the greatest beat master I have had the pleasure to work with.
Lamont, or 558 PREMI'YUM, as his friends called him (Which by the way was the price of two rally burgers with cheese and fries)), was an exceptional musician, playing the violin in school. His love for hip-hop was unbelievable, listening to A Tribe Called Quest, Beatnuts, and Common. He was also a fan on Japanese Animation.
Lamont started his hip-hop direction by forming the hip-hop trio UnPlugged Roots with Mark Flaniken (mista grits) and John Davies (isotope). After releasing 4 cds, the trio parted ways to do solo projects with Lamont forming Cherrylam Productions with musician Jamal Cherry (J-Palm). This dynamic duo released 4 cds of great experimental music incorporating hip- hop, jazz, and new age sounds. 5'58 also released 6 cds of his own, while working! His work ethic was un believable.
