About Me

Vikings’ chairman Steve O’Connor is introducing a dynamic new look for the club. His design team has created a new logo for the operation in the form of a Viking longboat shaped from the letter V which will appear on all club merchandising.A new official website has been developed where fans will be able to purchase match tickets, order Vikings merchandise and keep up to date with all the very latest news and views. Details of the changes were unveiled at a sell-out Fans’ Forum held at The Stobart Stadium on Thursday evening when 450 supporters got their first glimpse of the bright new future. The event was the first opportunity to view Vikings’ smart new-look first team kit. When they take to the pitch in the 2008 Co-operative National League season, Vikings’ will carry the name of Stobart, one of the nation’s most recognised brands, across the front of their shirts. The ‘home’ kit colours are black, white and red - while the ‘away’ kit is designed in the Stobart corporate colours of white, green and red.On the back of the shirts is a red-coloured logo of a letter O and C combination which represents O’Connor Group, the company that was owned by Mr O’Connor and is now part of the giant Stobart Group operation. The kits are being produced by the world’s leading sportswear company Nike – the first time the famous Nike logo will have appeared in the UK Rugby League. Players’ shorts will be sponsored by Halton Borough Council.Paul Gillespie, Team Sales Manager for Nike UK, said: “We are delighted that the Widnes Vikings have become the first professional RL Club in the UK to perform in Nike playing and training kit. We look forward to supporting the club and being part of its future success.”Mr O’Connor said: “We are looking at every aspect of the Vikings’ operation to ensure the long-term future of rugby league in Widnes. This is a fresh start for the club and we wanted to develop a new, modern look in keeping with the demands of the 21st century. Widnes has a fantastic heritage and that’s a great foundation to build upon. Now our aim is to bring financial stability to the club and use that as a springboard to seek a return to those glorious days, not that long ago, when the town boasted the best club side in the world.” You should create your own MySpace Layouts like me by using nUCLEArcENTURy .COM's MySpace Profile Editor !
