Pain Killing Drug (P.K.D) came from Wadersloh, a very small town in the central of Germany. The music is based on multi-voices singing, melodic and uncomplicated guitar reefs supported from precise - accents setting drums and bass. The band was founded in 1997.
After only three years the band could look back on over 100 live appearances and three own produced albums. The idea to put some of their songs - in at that time rather unknown format called “mp3” - to the internet, should turn out to one the best things the band could do at that stadium of their career.
Within a few weeks Pain Killing Drug achieved world-wide popularity. Suddenly their titles appeared on radio playlists in many countries. Specially the USA liked their songs and announced them on air together with famous bands like Goo Goo Dolls, Aerosmith, Face No More or Third Eye Blind. Nine weeks they stayed at pos.1 in the official US download charts on mp3.com and so they got their first official publications on a Samplers in the USA and Japan.
Because of their early connection with the topic internet music they were invited as one of the innovative musicians on the European music fair Popkomm in year 2000. In the end PKD even got an award as "best international MP3 Acts 2000" and were celebrated by many visitors and companies during their live performance afterwards on the fair.
Consequence was the signing from a major record company at the beginning of 2001. Unfortunately this brought a changing of name, musical direction and a changing or the drummer with itself.
Just as a short project planned, the new band Audiosmog published in nearly 5 years three successful longplayers. Their videos were regularly broadcasted by music amy television stations like MTV, VH1 and Viva. But not only Germany liked the music of this project - particularly for the French music market the released different songs songs and videos. Audiosmog played concerts in France, Poland, Lettland, Switzerland, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg and stood on stage with musicians like Pink, H-Blockx, Dick Brave, Natural Born Hippies, Sarah Connor, Safri Duo, Nina Hagen or Ruslana.
In summer 2006 drummer Mark left the band and the whole project died.
Just planned as a small birthday surprise for a very close friend the original line-up from 1997 came together for a very small gig in winter 2006.
Three month later guitarist René forced the others to meet again for some rehearsals - new Album is planned in autumn 2007.
