LA's dj Ernie Pearl

Born in El Paso,Tx and raised in El Monte,Ca(15 miles east of LA) Ernie's older siblings always had top 40 radio on in the house. Collecting radio top 40 records was Ernie's pre-teen hobby. In the late 70's early 80's K.U.T.E. FM and The Mighty 690 AM were the radio staions that played the tunes of the day. By this time Ernie record collection was vast. In high school he joined the marching band as a drummer and his senior year was elevated to Drum Major. Ernie's interest in different beats influenced him on combining different beats. After high school Ernie was introduced to a friends d.j. sysytem (turntables,mixer)and it all seemed so easy to learn the craft of blending one record into another. Then came gigs at High School dances,b-day parties,weddings and just about anyone who wanted to throw a party. At the time party crews were in vogue. Ernie was in a party crew called The Renengadez(1984-87). Soon flyer partys at some locations like Casa Camino Real,DQ's,Disco 88, Frenchys,Kennedy Hall,Florentine Gardens were the party Halls of the time.

Ernie's first time inside Circus Disco was in 1987 and was awed by the energy and size of the club. At the time dj Fabian Vangelli was the resident dj and his mixing style,smooth transitions, peaks and valleys were a major influence. After many,many cassettes being passed out Ernie finally got his first residency at Rosies nightclub and restaurant (1990-92). Then in 1992 Ernie got a Saturday gig at Arena Cafe . In 1995 Ernie got residency at Circus Disco. 1995 Ernie started working at L A's premier dance record store PRIME CUTS RECORDS (1995-2002). 1995 also marked the year he met promoter Jaime (Club Papi) and his first trips out of L A were at Futura in S F. Followed in 1996-98 Club Papi San Jose and Pan Dulce. 1999 marked the year CHICO came into the picture. Finally a cool intimate spot in East Los Angeles and the 1st L.A.tino pride. 2000 was a busy year Club Papi Los Angeles and Score downtown. From 2001-03 Ernie was spinning at such places like Rich's San Diego/Club Papi Houston/Bomba(club 7969)/National Disco Front/Juicy(old probe).
In 2005 it was time to explore other venues. West Hollywood's Popular Packed Houses of Mickys and Rage came into the picture.

I've been collecting records since the late 70's and have over 10,000 records of different dance genre's. From Funk and Disco of the late 70's/ to early 80's hip hop and high energy/ to freestyle and early house/techno/to 90's latin house and tribal,progressive house.Todays current dance tracks and hip hop sounds. My collection was enhanced by working for 5 yrs at L.A's premiere dance record store. PRIME CUTS RECORDS........
Besides d.jing ,I also like to go to reatuarants,movies,shop till u drop,bowling,playing pool,cards,hangin out with good friends, or just stayin home channel surfin.........I work at several clubs in greater Los Angeles, here's my playdates....
