******Artist statement*******
Tiffany Eng is an Oakland, CA born-and-raised artist/youth organizer who believes in the power of consciousness-raising (through humor, education, and art) in order to address social inequities. She received her B.A. in Art and her B.A. in Asian American studies from UCLA in 2001, where she received formal training in drawing, painting, and photography. Her work's grounding resides primarily in her experiences growing up as a Chinese American youth who wanted to address the inherent discrimination of her institutional/ educational upbringing. Her current art focuses on cultural and historic symbols in order to deconstruct the complexities behind every issue, every truth, and every word taken for granted in this society. As always, irony and humor remains a central theme to most of her art.
