About Me

Formed in the sweaty crevice of the Hobart music scene, 17Hertz is a band that started as three mates and a couple of songs which soon ballooned into an ambition to rock out hard and play till our fingers drop off. As the winners of the Club Surreal Battle of the Bands Competition we received a prize of 200 mastered and pressed CD's which we used to produce a 3-track EP (two of the songs being Mr.Confused and Redline which you can hear in our player on this site) and we have just completed our first full length album, recorded by ourselves and featuring twelve big fat rockin' tracks to make your eardrums melt with joy. The album launch is scheduled for Wednesday May 28th at the Republic Bar and Cafe with local bands Lakoda and Melodic Candy.
We recently found ourselves as one of the top five finalists in the Sea FM's OPENING ACT competition which involved Powderfinger and Silverchair as well as being runners up in the Cougar battle of the band competition held at the Foreshore Tavern last March.
We have been playing regularly around Hobart for a good two years now at such illustrious venues as The Derwent Entertainment Centre, The Trout (R.I.P), Irish Murphy's, The Mayf, The Loft and The Brisbane Hotel. We have also recently made the trip across the strait to play at a venue called Barbukka in Melbourne with a very decent bunch of people and are planning a larger and broader trip to and across the mainland later this year.
