RAS JUMBO

David JNO.BAPTISTE / Ras Jumbo, born in the Commonwealth of Dominica.Grew up playing the organ and guitar.Performed widely on the island during his High School era as guitarist with original group before going on to do his first live recording in 1977 in Fort de France, Martinique ( 3A Studio ) with group Wax Power Vibration.Toured Martinique 77/78.Toured and recorded nine (9) albums with long time veteran Cadence Lypso artist Anthony Gussie.Toured with Bankie Banx, one of the Caribbean's well known pop reggae artist.Original member of the Gramacks New Generation,toured and recorded during eight (8) years the Caribbean,Europe,New York and La Reunion. Together with the group GNG (Gramacks New Generation ) recorded five (5) albums with Dominican Singer Jeff Joseph. The album " THE PROPHETS " was recorded in EMI Studios in Paris 1989 for Alpha Blondy with Ras Jumbo on Bass. Denis Bovell the recording engineer. In 1987 He did play Bass on the track " Rock and Roll Remedy " Alpha's REVOLUTION album.On the album " MERCI " recorded in 2002 , He recorded some of the bass tracks . Toured the USA, Martinique and Guadeloupe, Guyane,Senegal with Alpha Blondy. Has recorded for few artists from the Ivory Coast :Zoanet Comes, Ismael Isaacs and in 2007 Tiken Jah Fakoly's latest album. Toured with Tonton David. Played on the recording for the album Tonton David's " FAUT QU'CA ARRETTE " produced by DELABEL. Recorded the very first album for Pierpoljak in June 1996 " A LA CAMPAGNE " in Nievre (à la Doué Dormecy, Nievre)for BARCLAY.Worked with Leroy Horsemouth in the video clip of 'Pierpoljak' filmed on base in Jamaica-(St.Thomas / KIngston).Toured France with Pierpoljak and Burning Spear. Worked with Negres Maroons on their album " LE BILAN " for " SECTEUR A " Productions. Ras Jumbo has recorded and performed live tv shows with Jimmy Cliff and Anjelique Kidjo for the promotion of Disney produced film "Le Roi Lion" Ras Jumbo has co produced various artists here in France. Together with his Drummer, Charles Laubé (SOWAN RECORDS) " REGGAE EXCLUSIV " album distributed by WARNER and financed by " SOWAN RECORDS ". Author,composer and arranger, Ras Jumbo is now performing with Tiken Jah Fakoly.Toured Euope,Brazil,Canada,Caribbean and Africa 2005,2006 and has recorded the new album " L'AFRICAIN " which is to be released in September 2007.
