About Me

Dream of the Gemini is my band... my musical project. The name is a dedication to my wife and my twin daughters. My wifes Zodiac symbol is the Gemini which is 'The Twins'... spooky.I have been playing music since 1978 when I picked up the guitar and the Roy Clark Big Note Song book. The book didn't last, but the guitar did. I would spend the next 5 years teaching myself to play. I took actual lessons in 1983 for about 3 weeks... again I would quit formal training and go back to playing in my room. During the very early 80's while visiting relatives in Ohio, I discovered that I had a very strong attraction to their baby grand piano. I would ignore my relatives throughout that whole visit, exploring and playing it nearly the entire time.I joinged my first rock band in 1984 and would float in and out of various bands until 1988 when I joined up and had a short stint with The Undecided from Alton, Illinois. That would be my last band - I decided in the spring of that year that the band scene was not for me. Concurrently, I was attending SIUE Edwardsville and working in the music lab where I really got the bug for recording my on music on the computer. I put together several compositions - some have since been lost - but I realized at that time the style/genre that I was developing was a hybrid mix of new age and rock. Don't ask me why, but I lacked confidence, dicipline, and drive and abandoned music soon after this for several years. I would still play guitar and piano, but just as a hobby.Well, it's been nearly 20 years and the bug is back! Much of my coming back to music was part of the re-birth that I had promised myself when I turned 40. A day wouldn't go by when I didn't think about how badly I was cheating myself by not taking my talents more seriously. An even bigger part of it is my current guitar training under George Lynch and his new online guitar academy - The George Lynch DOJO. Joing this has been one of those most positive and motivating things that I have ever done. It has opened my eyes on so many levels in regards to my playing, my self dicipline, and the music that is swimming in my head.Dream of the Gemini is going to be a challenging journey for me - going down a dark road I've never been before. I have a lot to learn about - not only piecing together these musical ideas in this skull of mine - but how to operate the techincal equipment I have accumulated that will help me do it! The compositions will dribble in a bit at a time, but as I perfect my skills both musically and as an engineer the catalog will grow.Onto the dream...

Sounds Like: The guitar work will reak of 80's rock guitar influence... I hope I come away with something unique somehow. As far as the composition work you will hear in time... well the way I hear it in my head is 80's rock guitar meets Blade Runner meets Nightmare on Elm Street fame meets Miami Vice... Hearts of Space/Soundtrack type of stuff.
