About Me

Hey everybody! Thanks for stopping by! I am a Southern Virginia girl and will always consider Bristol my home even though I don't currently live there now.
I have a special place in my heart for those heroes we call our troops. I love, support, honor, and respect those brave men and women in the military so much! THANK-YOU from my heart and soul for your service! I love you all!!!
If you love this country as much as I do, PLEASE consider contributing to www.homefronthugs.com We have INJURED SOLDIERS in Iraq who need BASIC NECESSITIES like socks and underwear. Our government has failed to provide for them, and they NEED us to support them.
A percentage of the money from my album sales is being donated directly to this charity, and I will be on PBS soon spreading the work of this organization.
ALSO, please check out www.myhuggy.com This is a FANTASTIC company I am proud to be a part of, and they are doing something VERY cool for the children of our deployed soldiers! Add MyHuggy to your friends list and go to their website today!
Thank-you for supporting me as I support our troops! If you would like to help me finish my album, you may choose to donate here. THANK-YOU!

“Life is meant to be lived out loud.”
-Laura Blevins

On the surface Laura Blevins is a fun loving and free-spirited artist. Her casual charm and quick wit can leave you with the impression that life through her eyes is a simple melody. Interestingly, her music also offers a window to see the beauty of humanity and the complexities of life with its inevitable struggles. Laura creates a refreshing harmony in the paradox of living.

Her self-produced debut album, Life Out Loud, blends meaningful lyrics with strong hooks and compelling melodies. Her careful approach to heavier subject matter (“Bruises”, “To All Who Serve”) is well balanced with lighter tunes, (“Falling”, “Sing to Me”) unapologetic, spunky tracks, (“Watch Me”, “Life Out Loud”) and heart-warming songs of inspiration (“I Still Believe” “Bent, Not Broken”).

Teaming up with the studio talents of Mark Stephenson (Martina McBride, Jewel, Lonestar) and the genius of award-winning musician Michael Dowdle, (Marie Osmond, The Oprah Winfrey Show, Disney and Touchstone) Laura successfully blurs the lines between genres. Her strong songwriting skills, catchy rhythms, and clear vocals with just a hint of a Southern drawl, offer listeners a fresh approach to the crossover pop-country scene.

She sites Martina McBride as her main inspiration, but has also been influenced by LeAnn Rimes, Alison Kraus, Faith Hill, Whitney Houston, and Mariah Carey.

Born and raised in Southern Virginia, just hours from Nashville, Laura grew up performing in church choirs, school musicals, and community programs. Unpopular in her teenage years for following her own path and not adopting the lifestyle of her peers, Laura turned to music for strength and reassurance. “Music has always been such an important part of my life,” says Laura. “There were so many times growing up when I would have been very lost without it. It became the comforting arms of a friend when I felt frustrated or alone.”

Now that those awkward years are behind her, she spends much of her time advocating for those who are close to her heart; our American soldiers. In particular, our injured troops overseas who are incredibly short on supplies. “To All Who Serve” is Laura’s personal message of support for our troops from her heart. She has performed it for thousands of soldiers being deployed to Iraq, and has utilized the Internet to share it with countless members of our military serving overseas. “You know, everyone claims they support our troops, to say otherwise would be very unpopular right now, and anyone can put a magnet on their car, but how many of us are actually doing something? I’m here to make a difference. This isn’t about me, it’s about them. “

Laurais planning a trip overseas in 2009 or 2010 to entertain the troops, to visit with them and boost morale, and to bring them supplies they desperately need. She is a big supporter of Home Front Hugs USA, a non-profit organization offering support to our military and their families, and providing our wounded with supplies through donations and volunteer efforts.

Already getting airtime on www.hooahradio.com, for her moving patriotic piece “To All Who Serve”, Laura said in a recent interview “I really hate it when artists start spouting their political views, so I was very careful to make this song politically neutral, but this isn’t about who’s right or wrong. This is about the fact that our heroes are serving, there is a real need for us to support them, and we as Americans can do more.”

In an age where media and entertainment clamor for our attention, inundating our homes with their pessimistic commentaries, Laura Blevins' message is one of passion and inspiration. Stretching past the politics of the day and reaching into people's hearts, listeners will find a voice of strength, gratitude, and optimism that reaches back to our roots; a reminder of humanitarian kindness, a sense of purpose, and clear direction as she lives her life “Out Loud”.
