Meliesa and the Monkeybites

Meliesa and the Monkeybites happened either by luck or by accident, depending on your point of view. Having played her solo acoustic/vocal cover act for a year, Meliesa was itching to start a band. She had had little success previously when looking for musicians, so she faced this task with a great deal of dread, until MONKEY showed up at a club one night and said "I'm going to be your drummer." She said "Okay" and then set about locating a guitarist.Jackson Patrick had hosted the first open mic Meliesa had ever sung at, at Tom Giblins. She ran into him at a club one night, and asked if he might know someone who might be interested. To her shock, he volunteered for the job. Talk about a dream come true!Next up was a bass player. meliesa had booked a gig on sheer faith that one would be found in time. Ads went up everywhere, word of mouth spread, but bassists are in short supply in America's Finest City. Meliesa ran across a card from a bassist she had seen play in a jazz band a couple of years before, so she called him to seek his help finding someone. He agreed to "fill in" until a permanent guy could be found, but instead ended up becoming a full-time player with the band himself.Meliesa and the Monkeybites played their first gig together in March 2006 and since then have become highly sought after at local clubs. They play an eclectic mix of audience-familiar songs spanning classic rock through modern pop, rock, alternative, Irish, and punk tunes.I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
