..
Music is my life-blood.
I'd rather live hungry than die starved.
I was very young the first time I saw Disney's "Snow White." I can't even remember how young I was, but at that very moment, I wanted nothing more than to be the voice of a Disney princess when I grew up. Well, that hasn't happened... Yet. But since then, I've striven to be the biggest dork ever and have devoted much of my time to music and singing.
I sang in my church choir from age 8 through 13. At age 14, I went into high-school and began singing with both the girl's vocal ensemble and the advanced choir ensemble. I was very active in both the Solo & Ensemble events as well as the theatre department of my high-school. I landed my first stage role as "Elizabeth Faulkner" in Sherlock Holmes my freshman year (fall 1995). In my sophomore year, I was cast as "Rosie Alvarez" in Bye Bye Birdie (spring 1997).
I began studying at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in 1999 and focused my studies in music (instrument: voice). I sang with the Parkside Mastersingers choir, The Parkside Chorus Ensemble, and The Voices of Parkside (advanced chamber ensemble). I still remained very active in theatre throughout college. I was involved in UW-Parkside's first opera productions ("Bastien und Bastienna" and "il Impresario"). In 2002, I was nominated for an Irene Ryan Award through ACTF (American College Theatre Festival) for my performance as "Ida" in Parkside's production of "Honk!". In 2004, I played the role of "Mrs. Pearce" and was understudy for "Eliza Doolittle" in "My Fair Lady."
Since graduating in 2005, I have focused myself almost entirely on music.
I began singing with Orphonic Orchestra in 2002 after the band's vocalist departed from the project. I've known John (the guitarist, whom originally thought of creating the band) since I was 16 (we also created our very first band together, "Landslide") and we've been best-friends ever since. I've been very lucky to be in a band with people I love. They're my family.
In the winter of 2006, I auditioned for the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Chorus and was accepted warmly. I sing first alto in the choir of 150 members.
I've been keeping myself active and busy as much as I can in the local/indie music scene, and intend to do so for as long as I have the ability to. And if I manage to get a "break" in the business, I won't mind that, either. ;)
