June, 2007 By: Red Carpet PR Guitarist Jason Rhodes was born down south in Mississippi, where Delta Blues was rooted in every day life. "Being born into such a pure and soulful musical atmosphere, AND a musical family...was a priceless gift", says Jason.Jason's father, (Michael Rhodes) is an industry renowned bass player. Having the opportunity to grow up around legendary artists, helped cultivate Jason's appreciation for many styles of music. Early on, Jason moved around quite a bit...Memphis, Austin, Nashville...spending much of his time in and out of the studio, and attending live shows watching his father. "During those years, I was able to absorb so much just being in the thick of it. It's amazing how many bits of wisdom you can pick in those types of atmospheres". Having taught himself to play the guitar by the age of 12, Jason was well on his way to fulfilling his passion of playing music for a living. As time went on, Jason migrated to the north east. While there, he spent time playing as much (and with as many people) as possible in Connecticut, Burlington, and Boston. And after a bit more time in Nashville, he headed out to Los Angeles.
Jason has played in numerous bands, won several "Battle of the Bands" competitions, supported various artists, has played in TV and radio spots, and has worked and played with musicians of all styles. Sully Erna of Godsmack, Stacy Jones of American Hi-Fi, Gene Loves Jezebel, Thomas Flowers of Oleander, Clear, Hedspace, Hindu Cows, legendary (Producer) Andy Johns, Ryan Starr (of American Idol)...only to name a few. "
I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunities I've experienced thus far. I've been able to take pieces of the many elements that make music so great, and do my best to learn from them all". When it comes to music..."A good song is a good song...complex, or simple. Electric and gritty, or organic and acoustic. It all boils down to melody and emotion. If you've got that...all the rest will follow".
