When the band started about five years ago, it was nothing like it is today. We mean that in a good way. First of all, at that time, we weren't called Firebrand, we were called Security. I think we mainly had to change the name because someone else already had the name. Another major difference was that Nathan wasn't in the band yet. We, Jason and Aaron, were in more than one band together in the past. Jason always played bass guitar and I, Aaron, played lead guitar. The band thing was just kind of natural to us by that time. We actually went through a couple drummers until getting Nathan to drum for us. He was the only drummer we had who went to our church. To be quite honest, Jason and I pretty much just overlooked Nathan. It wasn't until we needed a drummer real bad when we tried out Nathan. After a couple minutes, we knew that our drummer had been right under our noses! Nathan was awesome! He's even better now. He really showed Jason and I what it meant to be an anointed drummer. Since then, Firebrand has taken a major leap forward into the moves of God. We as a whole agree that the only important matter is God's will. Nothing is as important as following the perfect will of God. This band was ordained by God; so we're going to do all we can to make sure that nothing has been done in vain. That said, the mission God has laid out for us is not only to sing songs and have fun, not only to deliver a message but it goes much deeper than that. Yes we play music. Yes we have a message, but we have been called to play for the sick and the oppressed. We have been called to play prophetically so that the sick may be healed and the oppressed may be delivered. Some people may have a problem with that, but we do what we've been told to do. A lot of people don't understand how that works, but there is healing in music. The bible is full of occasions like that. We do not consider ourselves a band, but a ministry!! We have no power to heal or deliver anyone from anything, but the power and annointing of God through us, can do anything form raising the dead to moving mountains. Does that make us great? Absolutely not! We are only humans who have no power but know the One who has. In Christ, all things are possible. We are mere instruments.
