About Me

The roots of the Highness Sound System stretch back to 1996 when two good friends Ben and Petros moved to Nottingham and found a practically non existant roots reggae scene, not happy with the lack of the music they love and inspired by the stories of Nottinghams once prolific sound system culture they started playing music in small venues around the town. One year on and Petros moved to Brighton and founded "The Majestic Sound System." Ben stayed on and with his best bredren Raffiki and Highness was created with various second hand and custom built boxes which were responsible for rumbling light fittings out of venues like "the Golden Fleece" and "The Maze," both on Mansfield Road. humble beginings. Now 10 years on and Highness have come a long way with the help of Ben "Shakisha" and a completely custom built heavyweight sound system, and a super strong team with the likes of- The Blue Cat, Lenny Ranks, The Doktah, Jeffers, Baron D, Percy Dread, Phasix, Priesthood, Raffiki and Ben Highness. Strictly Roots Reggae Ina Sound System Style, No Compromise.
