About Me

About 40 years exp with guitar, I still play in bands and duos and offer guitar tuition.I provide unacredited learning, working closely with the student's individual needs. Minimum theory, more hands-on. There is no set time for a session but about an hour is usually enough. If you need more, you get it - I don't clock-watch. Likewise, if we get done there's no point labouring a point so we get off early:)Message me for a more personalised discussion.

Influences: Hah, the list is so long I could fill the entire site. Jimi Hendrix http://www.jimi-hendrix.com/index.php, Vivaldi http://www.baroquemusic.org/bqxvivaldi.html, J S Bach, Rory Galagher, Alvin Lee, Steve Vai. Eddie Van Halen, Joni Mitchell, The Animals, Ravi Shankar, I Solisti Veneti; hey, I was going to find websites but you can just google any of this, right?
Sounds Like: Well, people say I look like Neil Young (and I've covered a few busking - thanks Neil, I made loads at this in the 70s but haven't done it since); Iggy Pop and Andy Frazer. I like Free but never quite got that close to anything vaguely punk. I've also been told (usually by drunk old blokes) that I look like Max Wall - who was considerably funnier than any of those geezers. But sound-wise, I've heard Garry Moore and Rudolf Schenker mentioned, and I'm embarressed but proud to say Hendrix too when I'm playing electric. Acousticwise I suppose I've yet to find out - I know one bloke who picks similarly but can't remember his name. I listen to Jansch, Young, CSNY, Pepe & other Romeros, Spanish, classical and Romany musics and I also nick sitar riffs, Chinese zither stuff and have recently undergone an operation to have panpipes removed - but seriously Peru was brilliant!
