Whiskey Dick

Whiskey Dick proves to be one of the few bands who's sound is simply impossible to pigeonhole. This unapologetic trio reaches from an eclectic assortment of sounds and genres, and seemlessly strings them together through the art of improvisation. Whiskey Dick is comprised of Kevin "Kuya" Kula on guitar and keyboards, Andrew McAuley on drums and percussion, and Shane Fury on bass and vocals. The group formed in 1999 while attending college in New Paltz, NY. The original lineup also featured founding member and bassist, Ivo Shanks, who unfortunately passed away in early 2001. After his passing, Shane, who was originally the vocalist, stepped in on bass and the line-up was once again complete. This lineup (also featuring Misha Silverman on saxophone) carried on until late 2001, when drummer and percussionist Andrew McAuley left to immerse himself in private studies. Kevin and Shane finished their studies in jazz theory, and continued to play together in the group Minotaur, until they both left New Paltz to pursue the next chapter in their lives. Now after almost 6 years apart, Kevin, Andrew, and Shane are back together and have resumed sculpting out their unique sonic soundscape. Covering all styles and more importantly emotions, Whiskey Dick is a trio that truly has something for everyone, all the while without having to comprimise their personal ideologies. In a time where the evolution of music has been halted by the likes of make-up wearing crybabies, uber-thugs, and novelty acts, Whiskey Dick is truly a breath of fresh air.
