Although Diggers services were refused, Ed showed an interest in writing some songs with him and the proper information was exchanged to make this possible. Diggers meanwhile, was working with Nick Fehr on a possible musical project. Ed joined these two and they became THE HOLLOWS: a horror punk band which played only one show before they broke up due to Nick's time constrains and his change in musical direction. Ed went on to join the metal band REVERENCE while nick and Diggers continued to play and look for other possible band mates. At this point Dr. Metal arrived from space; he had been on retirement for several years, he landed promptly in front on Nick and Diggers and joined then, the trio becoming THE BOMBSHELLS, a garage band that went through many musical forms, none of them being very successful or metal, with Nick on vocals, Doc on guitar and Diggers on drums. The BOMBSHELLS lacked a bottom end. Ed, having quit REVERENCE due to the long distance, was happy to fill in. Nick had no patience or tolerance for the magic and grandeur that is Heavy Metal and the other 3 were dissatisfied with the sound and direction of the band. Nick's appearances for practices were becoming rare and the band dissolved. And from the ashes of that failed musical project rose IRON FIST. Ed, Digger and Doc realized that the break up of one band was an opportunity for another.
