About Me
Melanie and Stephanie have been performing since the tender age of five. Having had an unmistakable love and passion for performing, the twins looked for ANY excuse to break out in song or move to the music of their favorite entertainer, Madonna. Their love of music only grew as the girls matured and started performing for, not only family and friends, but at local functions like festivals and competitions. Melanie and Stephanie, or Mel and Steph as they like to be called, began living out their dreams of becoming entertainers. The days of singing in their bathroom just to hear their voices echo back, soon progressed into singing in front of crowds of unfamiliar faces. Mel and Steph began their training at an early age with their voice coach and never looked back.
In junior high, the girls participated in Drama Club, fashion shows, and talent shows, furthering their experience in front of audiences and getting their first taste of the limelight. One experience that always stands out was their performance of Madonna's "True Blue" at their school's talent show. The girls received a standing ovation and felt more pleased than ever… AND convinced that this is what they wanted to do.
In high school, Mel and Steph joined the choir and took part in the school's dance shows, plays, musicals, and variety shows, where Melanie got a chance to shine, singing the National Anthem, and both girls participated in 3 other acts for their Senior Year Variety show. The girls choreographed dances with their dance instructor and realized the importance of presenting an eye appealing show. They began to understand ALL the elements necessary to put on a great performance. In their senior year, Mel and Steph quit the choir and ventured on a journey all their own, writing songs and making their dream of creating a CD come true. With the help of their producer, Roy, the girls began putting music to their "from the heart" lyrics and completed their debut CD, Dual Impact/Gitcha.
"Wherever the girls go, they seem to draw people in with their enthusiasm and life. It is clear that Mel and Steph were born to perform." The girls were not only noticed at their shows, but also in the modeling and film industry. Melanie and Stephanie were selected to be "Extras" in the movie, "Curly Sue" directed by James Hughes, and had fun on the set meeting the other actors. The girls also modeled for Sears Charm School and were noticed at the NYMC (New York Modeling Contracts) event held in downtown Chicago. Booker's Agency gave them their first "call-back" and were interested in using the girls in the once popular Doublemint Commercials. Unfortunately, the girls were too young to travel to New York and remained in their hometown of Chicago, Illinois, passing up this opportunity. Still, it was a boost for the girls and their first glimpse into some of the many pressures and challenges they would face in pursuing their dreams of becoming entertainers.
Now, Mel and Steph have managed to continue college and receive their BS Degree in Business Administration with a major in Marketing….ALL while focusing on their blossoming careers! Melanie and Stephanie have STILL managed to keep great grades and maintain Honor Roll Status, as well as, become members of various Honor Societies, and an organization dedicated to "Breaking Grounds in Business."
With determination and a lot of heart, Melanie and Stephanie are well on their way to achieving their dreams…but not at the expense of their education. Mel and Steph both agree "it's important to be well-rounded and realize that it is possible to reach a dream without compromising your education - all it takes is a little balance.
