Putting the 'Fun' Back in Dysfunction Since 1972

About Me

I try to follow along the lines of "do unto others as you'd have them do to you," although I am known to fuck up from time to time.
I love people, and try to give them the benefit of the doubt, though I find myself turning into a bitter old bitch with old age. *grin*
I am an animal fanatic, which is not entirely my fault because they always seem to find me, and then I have to help (this also applies to some people I have dated in the past).
I am always trying to learn new things, and I have the attention span of a gnat with ADD.
I love to write, to read (complete bibliophile, and my gig with B&N does not HELP my addiction at all whatsoever), listen to and play music (I play guitar and am trying to learn bass when I have the time - uh, when?),tinker around with computers, make web pages, shoot film/video, and now I have returned to one of my true loves: Acting. I help out with a theatre company, The Oberon Theatre Ensemble .
I used to be part of a theatre company of my father's, Ernie Martin, called the Actors Creative Theatre - Check out the New York Press review that we received for a production I starred in a few years back...
I'm pretty damn proud of it.
I love fine wine & Grand Marnier.
I'm thrilled that I figured out it's okay to be an athletic, skateboarding, weight-lifting chick who doesn't look like the chicks on Sex in the City...
Please check out a couple of my blogging ventures, in addition to my Myspace Blog, I think you'll enjoy them:

My Interests

Acting, Writing, Reading, teaching acting, learning about web design, music, film, pets, people, filmmaking, shooting video, learning to skateboard, lifting weights/exercise

Blogging is another big one. I have a couple of blogs, Voodoo Jive and Ornery Woman being a couple of them besides my blog here on MySpace - please stop by and check them out...click the link on the banner ads below.

I'd like to meet:

Down-to-earth people with good hearts, good minds, and who like to party and have fun - as long as it's not at someone else's expense.
I love to meet new people, but please drop me a note before you just add me...If I add folks on here it's because there is a connection - be it literary, mental, because we dig each other's sense of humor as seen on our pages, the mutual appreciation for things...you get the idea. Think about it: if you want to come into someone's house, you knock on their door first and introduce yourself, eh? Most likely, I'll say howdy doo and invite you in.
PLEASE NOTE: I WILL NOT ADD YOU IF YOU DO NOT ADD A NOTE. IF YOU ARE ALREADY A FRIEND, THIS APPLIES TO YOU AS WELL, FOR I WON'T KNOW THE DIFFERENCE IF YOU HAVE A DIFFERENT USER NAME. I DON'T EVEN LOOK AT FRIEND REQUESTS UNLESS I GET AN EMAIL STATING WHO THE HELL THEY ARE.

Not to be a jerk, but that's just how it is. I've been on here nearly 5 years and I'm up to my ass in spam.

*****MY FRIENDS RAWK!!!*****

Music:

Rock & Roll, Jazz (real jazz, not the elevator bullshit), Blues (not white-boy blues, either), Funk, Reggae, Classical, Latin, and pretty much anything I dig listening/dancing to.
Coltrane. Jane's Addiction. The Police. D.J. Krush. Beastie Boys. Mozart. Willie Bobo. Sonny Boy Williamson. The Dead. Ravel. Willie Nelson. Björk. Iggy Pop. Southern Culture on the Skids. Bob Marley. Blondie. Me'shell Ndegeocello. Mingus. Miles Davis. Frank Zappa. Curtis Mayfield. Antonio Carlos Jobim. Damon Albarn. The Hives. Johnny Cash. Funkadelic. Jimi Hendrix. Billie Holiday. Art Blakey. The Doors. Widespread Panic. Henry Rollins. Blind Willie McTell. Beck. Robert Johnson. Elvis. Chet Baker. Bootsy Collins. Led Zeppelin. Sun Ra. Pérez Prado. Tom Petty.
Just to name a drop in the bucket, but a few of the cream of the crop.Damn...way too many to name.

Television:

Benny Hill Show, Red Dwarf, Black Adder, S.T. Next Generation, South Park, Dave Chappelle, Ren & Stimpy, AbFab. Pretty much anything on either the Discovery Channel or Channel 13. I dig those forensic shows, and I'll admit it: lately I've gotten kinda hooked on Medium, CSI and Law and Order SVU. I've also been downloading episodes of this coolie british show called Most Haunted that fuckin' rawks. I don't watch too much tv compared to most people, though, so I'm a bit off the mark, I suppose...

Books:

I'm working on this list as I shuffle through the stacks of books in my home that make a visit to the Collier Brothers seem like a day at the beach...
