Evolution can be achieved through practice of virtue

About Me

I was born on the small island of Okinawa, in Japan, as Kinjo Manabu. I started traveling at the age of four with my family upon my adoption. That’s when I picked the name Michael out of a hat. I was formally initiated into Buddhism at the age of five, at first unwillingly studying and reciting sutras with my parents. I moved at least every two years because of my father's occupation in the Marine Corps, giving up home, friends, schools and other things I loved each time. My father finally retired from the Marines in Hawaii giving me the chance to finish high school there.
Until my high school graduation, philosophy and martial arts were my primary pursuits and escapes from school work drudgery. After graduation I traveled and studied more on my own on topics such as computer technology, world religions and various martial arts. I was finished with school after high school. Even though, I taught myself the guitar, computer repair and programming. After years of searching, I eventually found my place in the Vaishnava order at age 20 and began the journey of Bhakti Yoga. I still maintain my dicipline in martial arts with the study of Iaido, the Japanese art of fencing and Sho Rin Ryu Okinawan Karate. As an occupation I have chosen for myself a lifetime of service to the servants of God. I have, for the last ten years, lived within the spiritual community of New Dwaraka where I dwell amongst the mystics, living the life of a yogi and a peaceful warrior.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Anyone into good clean fun. I mostly enjoy the company of people on a spiritual path. I like people with a mind for exploring within. People who understand the concepts of dharma and karma will fit nicely in my world. I enjoy the company of philosophers, artists, musician and actors. I love the company of singers, poets and those who can find humor in the simple things in life.

Red vs Blue - Japan Style

War is definitely abhorring but with my life having been so bound up in it I can't help but appreciate the humor of this clip. Oyurushi kudasai (forgive please).

"The great sage Kardama said: O supreme worshipful Lord, my power of sight is now fulfilled, having attained the greatest perfection of the sight of You, who are the reservoir of all existences. Through many successive births of deep meditation, advanced yogés aspire to see Your transcendental form." - Srimad-Bhagavatam 3.21.13

"My dear Lord, although it is not Your desire, You manifest this creation of gross and subtle elements just for our sensual satisfaction. Let Your causeless mercy be upon us, for You have appeared before us in Your eternal form, adorned with a splendid wreath of tulasi leaves." Srimad-Bhagavatam 3.21.20

"In order to deliver the pious and to annihilate the miscreants, as well as to reestablish the principles of religion, I advent Myself millennium after millennium." - Bhagavad-gita 4.8

"Physical nature is known to be endlessly mutable. The universe is the cosmic form of the Supreme Lord, and I am that Lord represented as the Supersoul, dwelling in the heart of every embodied being." - Bhagavad-gita 8.4

"And whoever, at the time of death, quits his body, remembering Me alone, at once attains My nature. Of this there is no doubt." - Bhagavad-gita 8.5

"The human form of life affords one a chance to return home, back to Godhead. Therefore every living entity, especially in the human form of life, must engage in devotional service to the lotus feet of Lord Vishnu. This devotional service is natural because Lord Vishnu, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, is the most beloved, the master of the soul, and the well-wisher of all other living beings." Srimad-Bhagavatam 7.6.2
