Erin Roth, a lyric mezzo-soprano with her B.M. and M.M. in Vocal Performance graduated Cum Laude from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas in 2007.
Erin has had the opportunity to perform in many operas and workshops while at SFA, singing roles that include Cherubino in Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro (Spring 2007), Prince Orlofsky in Strauss' Die Fledermaus (Spring 2005), Augusta Tabor in The Ballad of Baby Doe by Moore (Summer 2005), Maddalena in Rigoletto by Verdi (Spring 2004), and Third Lady in Mozart's The Magic Flute (Spring 2003). Erin has also performed as a soloist in Handel's Messiah (2004), Mozart's Spatzenmesse (2006), and Raminsh's Magnificat (2007).
Some of Erin's awards and achievements are winning in The Orchestra of the Pines 2006 Concerto/Aria Competition and being a National Association of Teachers of Singing Finalist (Texoma Region, 2004). In March 2007, Erin placed second out of six finalists in the Wednesday Morning Music Club's Fielder Grant competition. Erin also had the opportunity to cover the mezzo solos in Danielpour's An American Requiem for Jill Grove, Metropolitan Opera singer and SFA alumna, in May 2007. In November 2007, Erin was named a finalist in the Edward Baird Singer of the Year Competition (Texoma Region). In May 2008, Erin was invited back to SFA as a guest artist to sing the mezzo solos in Verdi's Requiem.
Erin has also performed with the Amoré! Opera Guild of East Texas, a fundraising program for the SFASU Opera, and is a paid choir member for the Christ Episcopal Church in Nacogdoches, TX. She is also a member of Pi Kappa Lambda, the music honors fraternity.
