David Wallace was born in 1982 and began composing at the age of 11. Melody and harmony are really central to how he constructs his music. After completing his BMUS at the Cork School of Music in Ireland specialising in violin performance under Cornelia Zanidache and composition under Dr Rhona Clarke and Seamus de Barra. David continued his composition studies to Masters level in the Guildhall School of Music and Drama under Dr Richard Baker and Julian Philips, where he graduated with merit in September 2006. While at the Guildhall he won the only composition prize the Tracey Chadwell Memorial prize for his song cycle Tri Caoineadh or Three Laments(the last of which you are listening too now!) David was composition fellow at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and Composer-in- Residence in the Cork School of Music, Ireland through the generous donation of the Hochtief company from 2006-08. He also lectured orchestration and composition part-time on the degree course in the Cork School of Music 07-08.
