Planet Express is: An intense instrumental rock band hailing from Ithaca, New York. Its members each have distinct styles and therefore creative differences, Itamar being big on the emotion, Kunal going more for the groove and space and Russ, well, I have no clue where Russ comes from. However, when the music comes together and the groove is strong, you'll be amazed to hear what comes out of the mix when these three play together.
Russ: has been playing drums since he was old enough to hit stuff. His main goal in this band is to create a solid foundation with kunal that gets bootyshakers on the dancefloor. He listens to everything from Incubus to Herbie Hancock and is not afraid of ghosts in the night.
Itamar: picked up the guitar for the first time shortly after his fourteenth birthday. Now seventeen, he is self-taught and is influenced primarily by the styles of Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, Hillel Slovak and John Frusciante. Musical philosophies include pretty-sounding chords with wailing, soulful solos where appropriate. Lately Audioslave and Rusted Root have been in heavy rotation.
Kunal: would like to think he's a good musician, maybe he's just a bassist. In its many past forms, this band (mostly Russ) and Sean Kobuk have been essential to his developement as the low end and as a general funkmiester. He would like to think that Planet Express's noise represents a more mature and professional development of the funked up groove that takes form when Russ, Itamar, and he break out the music. He's big on old school R&B like James Brown (RIP) and Sly & The Family Stone but whenever he thinks musicians are playing true to music, it will influence him. Also, the Chili Peppers kick(ed) ass.
