My Name is Kostas Kyriakakis. I live in Iraklio Attica, Athens Greece. My Parents come from Lamia, a town 300kmeters away from Athens. I hope later on in my life I can go and live in a small town there village just outside Lamia called Vitoli.
I have studied as a SOUND ENGINEER but also as a CCNA (computer networks administrator).
I have been producing radio shows since 1989 and the heavy metal radio show Metalzone since 1998. Also in 2001 I designed the web page of the show www.metalzone.gr which is now a well established metal web portal. My radio show had been broadcasted through the Municipal Radio of Iraklion Attica, Epikoinonia 94fm. Since March 25th 2007 I sifted to Atlantis Radio on 105,2fm.
When I first started out doing radio shows about heavy metal everyone was telling me I am what you would call a graphic because at that time heavy metal wasn’t trendy. I started broadcasting bands like WASP, Grim Reaper, Riot, Shok Paris, NWOBHM bands, underground American bands and doing special features (when the show was transmitted daily Thursdays were all about special 6 hour long features) which made many of them known to the Greek audience, since the media didn’t promote them and made many fans returned to the roots of metal.
I don’t often metal clubs because I don’t get along with people who act like cartoons and would stub you in the back any chance they got. I wonder why everyone is like that? I have often tried to co operate with people in the business and it has either cost me economic wise or I found out that they were only interested in serving their own interests and afterwards criticize me behind my back. I don’t associate with people like that.
Back in 2002 I promoted a couple of shows with the heavy metal band OMEN (their first ever in Greece), Paul Dianno, and a show with Anvil and Angel Dust in cooperation with Dionysus cafe. I stopped trying to bring bands which haven’t been in Greece before because I fans in Greece weren’t willing to support such shows at that moment.
I have the reputation of being a jackass within some of the active members of the “metal community” in Athens because I call them as I see them and refuse to kiss ass. The so called public relations everyone is doing so they can get in gigs for free or get special treatment from labels, get an allowance form clubs they dj in etc, doesn’t fit my style. I play the music that’s good to my ears and not the type of music the media promotes, and I speak my mind any chance I get. After all isn’t that what heavy metal is all about?
My nickname Purevil, doesn’t come from the well known song of Iced Earth and isn’t meant to mean Pure – Evil. It’s the oxymoron of the combination of being both pure and evil.
My moto is “Born to Loose Live to Win” and I try to live by it.

www.metalzone.gr has been online internet since May 2001. Metalzone.gr is the web portal of Metal radio show (non-internet ones) which is broadcasted through Atlantis Radio 105,2fm www.atlantisfm.gr every Sunday at 22.00 (+2.00 GMT) to 24.00.
The show presents thoroughly the Heavy Metal music scene doing special feature shows, presentations of new releases, tributes to bands, contests, reviews, open discussions, etc. Metalzone has been broadcasted through Epikoinonia Radio Station, the municipal radio station of Iraklio Attica since 1998.
Through the years our work has brought us high in the estimation of our listeners. In 2006 we have been voted by the readers of the Greek edition of Metal Hammer the best metal radio show in Greece. In 2007 the new mayor of Iraklio Attika, in charge of the municipal radio station, decided to stop the show without any reason at all and as a result to his unprofessional behavior Metalzone Radio Show moved to Atlantis Rock Radio 105,2fm.
Metalzone’s aim is promoting Metal music. The existence and evolution of the website and the radio show have helped many metal bands, not only of the 80's but also of the present to become known in Athens and Greece in General. Our contribution to Greek Metal community is non-negotiable despite the problems that we still face concerning the distributors or in Greece.
To their surprise we are still here and more people are with us.
