For many people music is just for fun. For others though, it is what gives their life a meaning. Especially the friends of rock have a special relationship with their favorite artists. The SCORPIONS are one of the bands who have been loved by many in Greece . Their albums can be found on the shelves of thousands of Greeks who have worshiped them during the concerts they gave in our country.The truth is … that it should have happened years ago. It took a spark to start things off. In the autumn of 1997 an ad in the Metal magazines was enough to gather some curious people and some people who had a mutual love. The Scorpions. So the first letters were exchanged, the first telephone numbers given out, and the meeting of the members for a coffee was agreed to be the first Sunday of every month. The hour long conversations and the mutual interests made the bonds between the members stronger and the fan club had now materialized.The initial core of the G.S.F.C. was 30 people. From Athens and the rest of Greece.The first meetings took place in the coffee houses of Victoria Square . One or two tables in the beginning, and the group was growing constantly. The conversations were endless. Impressions, feelings, memories, experiences and plans for the future.So the first parties took place, and the members of the fan club started hanging out despite of the club meetings, and all that created the legendary fanzine Hurricane. The lack of information regarding the band, the unjustifiable indifference of the local press and the need to share your views and thoughts with other fans, led to its publication.The fanzine «Hurricane» informs its friends about everything relative to the band and its former members (news, dedications, interviews, lyrics etc)The parties were constant, the members were becoming more and more, since whoever came to the parties were having a fantastic time and were meeting new friends, while «Hurricane» was being published whenever it was thought to be a necessity. The parties, where we had the chance to enjoy ourselves with the divine songs of the SCORPIONS were another important part of the G.S.F.C. activities. Unique moments from "Earthquake-Sismos" and "Texas" clubs to "Revenge of Rock", "Wild Thing" and "Outlaw". Uli Roth, Francis Buccholz, Jurgen Rosenthal, Herman Rarebell and Michael Schenker came to the parties which were organized in their honor.Later on the technology demanded the creation of a site while today, after all these years, the parties are even more organized, while Hurricane is even better with the support of the band. Whoever wants to be a member should just send us an email with their name, address and they will be notified regarding the next party, Hurricane publications and general events of the fan club.Nowadays the GSFC has myspace&facebook pages,as well!In answer to the question: What do SCORPIONS mean to us, we say: It is the strong rock rhythms, the luscious ballads, the dreamy and grand vocals of Klaus, the guitar pandemonium of Rudy, Uli, Matthias, the unique melodies and romance, the explosive live appearances which made them one of the most important groups in the world with millions of fans and viewers of their marathon tours. A special part of our lives, a musical voyage which started years ago and is continuing beyond the borders of unoriginal directions.
