CD Reviews:
"While listening to Departure you would never guess that it is this Boston based band's first cd. The EP has 5 tracks on it and to be honest that's probably the only disappointment I had, that there wasn't more for me to listen to. The songs are well written and are filled with catchy choruses and structured melodies that find a way to get stuck in your head. When it comes to songs more specifically, tracks 4 and 5 stand out to me most. When listening to Love Is War you can feel the strong emotion behind the lyrics, and Shadows seems to be the best received song crowd wise and just in general. By releasing this cd Astrea left the door open to a vast variety of fans." -By Brittany Hagerty(BEAT THE SCENE.COM)
Formed in Early 2005, Astrea started like every other band, with a desire to write and play music they truly enjoy that spoke to both they and their audience..
As Astrea we are driven to take our music as far as we can, write the best songs we know how and enjoy every second of it. We view every obstacle as just a bump in the road, and it makes us work even harder.
Blending the best out of our own particular styles, we have developed an original style that we can call own. We are always taking influences from every style of music and try to be as broad as possible. We like heavy guitars, soothing vocal melodies and blend it all with energy and technical grace.
In winter of 05' we recorded and released our first 3 song demo. The response was greater then we anticipated, and we continued to play as many shows a possible throughout the year, playing with some great bands.
In the summer of 06' we toured down the East Coast on our first tour, released a 2 song demo we recorded ourselves at Attic Sound Studio and mixed by Scott Riebling(Weezer, Fall Out Boy, The Academy Is.., MetroStation).
On June 12th our debut EP "Departure" was released. It had been the focus of our lives for the previous year and we were extremely excited for everyone to hear it. The CD includes 5 songs, recorded at Q Divsion in Boston as well as Attic Sound Studios in Franklin, MA. We had the pleasure of working with Scott Reibling once again in creating something we are all very proud of. It took long days, hard work and an open mind to go in and make these songs sound as good as they can. We personally feel we've suceeded.
"Departure" is available on SmartPunk.com and all Newbury Comic's locations throughout New England.
We are hoping this is the start of something for our future, but only time will tell.
Thank You to all of the bands that help us out all the time. And THANK YOU to everyone who listens, comments, votes, and sends us messages. We read every one even though we may not be able to respond (we are very busy boys)
THANK YOU!!!!!!
