Since 1965 Sax man Steve Mackay has been playing his unique brand of Rock n Roll. Starting out with the improv duo (and sometimes much larger) Carnal Kitchen. He went on to record on the Stooges "Fun House" album at 19 and still plays on the same Selmer Mark VI Tenor that has become his trademark.Beside his work with the Stooges and the Violent Femmes, for which he is most noted, he has added his talents to works by Commander Cody, Snakefinger, Smegma, Radon Ensemble, Zu, Koonda Holaa, Rashit, and many others including the Blue Prostitutes.Recent recordings include "The Weirdness" by the Stooges and his own "Michigan and Arcturus" (Radon) and "Tunnel Diner" (QBICO). Steve continues to gig with the Stooges through 2008, as well as inviting the challenge to play with experimental projects world wide. He would love to write music for TV and Films.
