" The Powers That Be": Mars and Ceder.
As two of the founding members of the Northern Associates Record Label and Artistic Umbrella, Lars Mars and Ceder Tree have both been creating and recording their unique styles of hip hop music for 15 plus years. Ceder Tree begining as a drummer and lyricist, and Lars Mars starting as a lyricist , both during thier early teens. In 1998, Lars Mars was 1/3 of the Three Essential Elements hip hop group. Along with K. Bennett and Whit, The Three Essential Elements released an album in 2001 called "The Grass That Grows Blue". The Three Essential Elements would later become "The White Devils", and release mix-albums with social and political themed content and aggressive revolutionary intent. Also in 2001, Ceder Tree and Whit began a live performance hip hop group, called "The Phydeliqs". Along with NAC members Hamre and A. McKay, The Phy started bringing raw live hip hop performances to Twin Cities audiences. Since early 2006, with the conception of the Northern Associates Crew, Mars and Ceder have been performing live, and exciting crowds with hip hop music forged with their own minds, and crafted to their own unique designs and natures. "The Powers That Be" rock stages with emerging Minneapolis acts; Whit, K. Bennett, Steady Progress, J-Rolla, TY SolFly, Explicit, B-CapaRapaStature, and many more. A full length album due out in the fall of 2007 promises a a new step in the development of the fast rising and successful Northern Associates Entertainment Crew. Their EP, "Exponential" is available now upon request, live at shows, and in stores. Look out for "The Powers That Be" trade-mark, high speed, high energy music, throught the Twin Cities and beyond.
