About Me

Born and grew up in northern England, but my Dad was originally from Ireland so my accent is all over the place. My Mum's great grandparents came from Italy and southern Germany so the family tree is sort of a mix as well. I'm Catholic obviously.

Currently living in Dublin with my Spanish girlfriend and working as a project manager with HP (that's the computer company - not the sauce makers.)

If I didn't have to work I'd probably be travelling by train, joining night classes and playing drums. In that order.

My Interests

Current affairs, reading newspapers, websites etc. I read the Guardian and Observer (which tells you all you need to know about my politics.)

I try and go walking as much as possible but without a car it's a bit hard to reach the great outdoors in Ireland.

Oh. And given the right music and a few beers I'm a dancing demon.

Music:

I play drums, bodhran and once had grade 7 piano. I listen to all types of music apart from country (you can't trust a man singing a sad song in a sparkly outfit - and the pedal steel should be banned..), but if you were to look at my music collection the one common feature would be 'good drums'.

Movies:

I like anything with a bit more thought than the usual lazy hollywood blockbuster. My favourite directors would be Kubrik and the Coen brothers.
I tend to have a weak spot for cartoons as well - good ones mind: Samurai Jack, Clone wars, Danger Mouse and old Tom & Jerry.

Television:

Don't tend to watch that much these days. The Simpsons is a must if I remember.

Books:

I'd like to put something 'interesting' here, but if I'm being honest the book I've read most is LOTR.

Otherwise books I'd recommend are:
The Master and the Margerita
Lolita (I know, I know, but it's actually quite funny!)
A Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovitch
Lanark
The Cloud Atlas
