About Me

I was given the name Harriet Hunt and was raised in a neighborhood notorious for robbing and jackin called Pleasant Grove (the southeast side of Dallas,TX). I recall writing my first few bars at the age of 7 years old in the 2nd grade. As an 80s baby, I was raised on the genre. The first tape that I owned was Eric B. and Rakim’s PAID IN FULL and the first album my mom bought me after days of beggin and crying was D.O.C.’s NO ONE CAN DO IT BETTER. DJ Red Alert was a big influence on my enthusiam towards Hip-Hop. His video show was filmed in the basement with no major network support (the original Rap City: Tha Basement), airing around 3 in the morning, I would sneak to the living room and watch it religiously. My fascination with Hip-Hop grew as I watched movies like CRUSH GROOVE, BEAT STREET, and BREAKIN I AND II.

Band Members: Dirty Harriet
Influences: RAKIM- one of my earliest influences, still one of the most lyrical rappers to date...you felt every word he said. I think he pretty much made all the rappers in his era step their game up. A Genius. SCARFACE- I’ve listened to him since day one of TEXAS LEGEND. His rap game is still up to par from when he first started, I love the Geto Boys. THE RESURRECTION is, like, my favorite cd of all time. Every song was well put together, definitely a classic!! TUPAC- who doesn’t love this man? A fool. If anybody came, saw and conquered...it was Tupac, he influenced so many people because he rapped about everyday situations. you could relate to it on a street level or a higher level. He was very well educated and articulate, no artist has yet to come and do the game the way he did it. He made it easy and now niggaz try too hard or not hard enough!! MC LYTE- being a female she really put me in the mood to hang with the boys. She was so confident, had great lyrics and wasn’t tryin to hear SHIT!!! I respect and appreciate what she contributed to the game. My favorite verse of hers was on "Self Destruction." UGK/8Ball and MJG- these 2 groups are pretty much like one group to me. when I think of UGK, I can’t help but to think of 8Ball and MJG as well. Even though they are from 2 totally different states, they both came out hard and are both underground kings. In the 90s it was a Texas must-have for these groups cassettes, or you wasn’t up on game. Pretty much all the Texas artists grew up on both groups. You play "Murder" by UGK then back-door with "Armed Robbery" by Ball and G, that’s just how it was.
