Unique art (check out Wes Borland's stuff, will blow your mind), astronomy, science in general, music, dancing, diner cooking (ha), collecting vintage things, designing things and traveling. I adore gothic and moderne architecture. Anything having to do with the 1933 Chicago Century of Progress International Exposition or 1939 New York World's Fair. (Pssst...if you happen to come across a Perisphere-Trylon collectible from the NY fair for sale somewhere, contact me, I might be interested in purchasing it. I collect them like mad.) Since I listed things I am interested in, this is a list of things I avoid: Status quo, long lines, colds, salespeople, bureaucracy, boors and jackasses...but donkeys are cute. I'll add more later. I just prefer to dwell on the positive so can't think of many negatives right now.
I'd like to meet:
Issac Assimov, Ptolemy, Leonardo DaVinci, Vincent Van Gogh, Cyndi Lauper and Wes Borland. I respect their originality and admire their scientific and artistic creativity. When my kids were little, MTV was just coming out. They still remember that Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" was my favorite. Whenever it came on we all would get up and dance around the living room, jumping on the couch and having a blast. How can you not when everyone is having so much FUN in that video? What a positive spirit she has. If I can find some pics of them when they were little I'll post them. Til then, remember that every day is special so treasure each moment and go out and have some FUN!
Music:
Music is my world...
Music soothes, energizes, inspires and reflects so many of my moods. It can move me to do great things or to do nothing. It is the liquid that runs through my veins, the conscience that feeds my brain, the radiance that caresses my heart and the essence that nourishes my soul. I simply could not live without music. I love a rocking guitar riff and all the other etheral sounds that emanate from that wonderful instrument. My favs are Wes Borland and Koichi Hayakawa. Both are freakin' AWESOME! I listen to classical, opera, rock metal, goth, ambient, lounge, smooth jazz, R&B, straight up blues, techno and rockabilly...any genre as long as it affects me. It's gotta' make me want to jump, dance, think, cry, whatever, but something. I just can't abide bland. I like certain songs and am loyal to very specific artists, not any group or genre, as I'm very selective. I'm a sucker for poetic lyrics. None of the following is listed in any particular order, just as I come across them in my music library...

I am constantly searching for new sounds and discovered these artists recently: Scorches of Dusk is sizzling so do yourself a favor and check them out. Also recommended are The Perry Lane Sect. - they remind me of the Yardbirds, and Jen Gloeckner - very unique. All very cool. Also found a UK artist named Budge Magraw - an odd throwback to rockabilly music, how unconventional and different. I so love the diversity of this site, not only in the availability of music but in the many people from all over the world who use this space to learn about one another. I've met so many cool people in my meanderings and the conversations have been insightful. It's refreshing to have artists contact you and be so open and willing to discuss their craft and share their personal perspective on not just music, but political issues, family life and such. You won't find that in mainstream media, that's for sure. Mainstream lies and sucks.

Someone wrote to ask me why I chose a pig animal cursor for my MySpace page. It's a tribute to my dad. He was a cop. He would understand. If anyone had a sense of humor, it was him, King of the Polack jokes. Rest in peace daddy-o.
Books:
The Giving Tree, The Good Earth, Jaws, To Kill A Mockingbird, The Alienist, The DaVinci Code, Five People You Meet In Heaven and the Dictionary. Throughout my life I've read the dictionary every couple of days to learn new words. Try it, you'll be surprised how addictive it is. I think I like it because when I came to this country I couldn't speak English. Now I'm a formidable wordsmith...my major was Communications. You figure it out.
Heroes:
Henry Kissinger, Ghandi, Mother Theresa, and Billy Graham. Not heroes but people I think are noteworthy because they stood their ground for what they believed and because they felt it was the right thing to do; not whether others thought so or not. Dr. Drew Pinsky, even at the top of his game in dishing advice to those who need it on Love-Line, is humble enough to admit to his own human vices and faults. I can relate to that. I listen to his radio show, have read his books and got to meet him at the recording studio where he signed my book. Really sweet note he left me.
