The Morpheena story began in late 2004 when ex-members of the bands Mite from Kristianstad and Leech from Hässleholm joined forces. The bands' two main songwriters Adam and Tony presented some songs which came out to be very different from eachother in both style and sound. Morpheena's first demo recording included various styles such as metal, punk, classic rock, emo, and felt very schizofrenic. The fact that Tony and Adam had lead vocals on their respective songs made the record sound almost like a collection with various artists. In time for the band's second studio session to record six songs under the name "El Duce", Adam and Tony drew more in the same direction and had picked up the best elements from one another to make a more fulfilled Morpheena experience. The sound of the recording turned out to become quite lo-fi sounding - due to a harddisc malfunction all the songs were deleted before the final mix. Shit happens! Next step was to record a full length album and the members emptied thir pockets to afford the studio time needed. In late March 2006 Morpheena entered JFK Studios in Viby/Kristianstad to begin their work on the album called "Headshot Blues". The band was well rehearsed so it took no more than a week to lay down all the twelve tracks. The mixing process was another story though, and months passed by. Finally, producer Martin Sventorp came out with a sound that was far above everyones expectations and the master record went to Austria for manufacturing before it arrived on Swedish ground on the 25th of July. That's the story so far. Hopefully more to come...
