Truitt Wieland, 2nd Degree Black Belt in the Jeff Speakman Kenpo Karate System. Owner and Head Instructor of the San Antonio, Texas School.I was born and raised in Yorktown, Texas. Where? A very small town, of about 2000 people located in South Texas. I grew up on a working, family ranch which has been in our family for over 150 years. Like in most of the small, rural communities in Texas, I learned the value of hard work and the rewards for doing so.
I walked on at St. Mary’s University, to play baseball where I eventually earned a scholarship. I graduated with a BA in Psychology in 1996. I started Kenpo in college to increase focus and discipline to help me on the baseball field and in school.
After my graduate studies, I went on to receive my Masters degree in Social Work. I currently counsel the elderly in nursing homes before heading off to the dojo.
It is with pride and passion I am able to study with Mr. Speakman. When acquiring this school in 2004, it took some time to gather up what was left and look for the best option for myself and for the students. Once I experienced the demanding nature, I knew right away it was in my best interest for me.
I continue to work diligently to spread the teachings he gives to me, along with all the other fine people I have met through him. I am proud to say I am a part of his growing Kenpo Family.
