Florence J. HarrisWATERBURYFlorence J. HarrisFlorence J. (Stuart) Harris, 77, of 15 Middle Street, died Saturday surrounded by her loving family at the Abbott Terrace Health Care Center. She was the widow of Vernon B. Harris Sr.Florence was born in Portsmouth, VA on August 24, 1929, daughter of the late Charles Elliott and the late Hattie (Stuart) Love. She graduated from Portsmouth High School. She moved from Virginia to Bridgeport in 1953 settling to Waterbury in 1955. She worked as an Administrative Assistant for the City of Waterbury Department of Health over fifteen years retiring in 1991. She was a member of the Mt. Olive A.M.E. Zion Church.She leaves four sons, Vernon B. Harris Jr., Kenneth W. Harris, and Byron C. Harris of Waterbury, and Larry A. Harris of Catskill, NY, a daughter, Rosemary Harris of Waterbury, three sisters, Gladys A. Love and Ivory O. Anders of Waterbury, and Ethel M. Hayre of Washington DC, fourteen grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren. Two sisters, Jean Rosco Love and Beverly A. Love are deceased.Arrangements: A funeral service will be held Thursday July 5th at 11 AM at the Mt. Olive A.M.E. Zion Church 82-100 Pearl Street. Burial in Riverside Cemetery in Waterbury. Calling hour Thursday morning from 10 AM until time of the service at the church. Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
