About Me

Singer / SongwriterSmooth, warm, sultry and inviting are the words used to describe the distinctive vocals of Kim Welcome. She was born in New York, grew up in the Bahamas and delights audiences with a smooth jazzy style that spans Pop, R&B and Easy Listening.A soloist since the age of 15, she always loved music and was attracted to very mature vocalists like Nancy Wilson and Dionne Warrick and later to rich voices like Anita Baker Sade and Phyllis Hyman.Upon graduating from college she delayed joining the corporate world as was expected and instead opted to work as a singer on a dinner cruise. Applauds compensated for the meager paycheck, but eventually, she succumbed to the pressure of expectation and took a “real job”. Her attempts to push away the desire to pursue what was inside proved futile and while she spent years in jobs that provided little satisfaction or fulfillment. She performed with a Philadelphia based entertainment company on weekends as a way of scratching a never ending itch. Her single No More Life Livin’ Me is autobiographical and has become her Personal Anthem, Theme Song and Mantra. She wrote it during a turning point when she finally mustered up the guts to step out, take control of her life and pursue passion over practicality. Her debut album Welcome Kim Welcome is anticipated late 2007. This project is a compilation of songs about living life with determination despite disappointment and difficulty. Overall, the message is one of inspiration. She hopes that her journey will encourage others to give birth to all they have inside. She says it’s never too late.
