Thank you to everyone that has stopped by to listen to my music. In talking to, and trying to get to know some of my new fans, I’ve been asked quite frequently about my past musical experience. My style of music has changed somewhat from the old days, but it was a necessary path to get me where I am now, to help define who I am and to bring out what was inside of me….which is the music you hear today. I started my musical journey as a hard rock drummer, playing in original bands in Pittsburgh such as Karetaker, and Soulbent. It is through these bands, and my friendships with the guys I formed them with, that ultimately lead me to where I am today. After the Karetaker days, my life had become busy with work and I took a hiatus from music, that might have become permanent if it were not for my longtime brotherJCmfDwyer ,a fellow drummer and singer that convinced me to blow the dust off my drums and begin a new project that became Soulbent, and once again, I was bit by the music bug. JC is now touring Europe with his current bandPro-Pain, and I am now residing here in Florida where I’m working on my first CD with the help of bass player Jason Brown and Guitarist Jack Rose. Jack has been a major driving force in keeping me motivated to finish my CD, providing me with creative guitar riffs and ice cold beers. I just want to give credit where credit is due and thank the people who have supported me throughout my musical career, and to the ones sticking by me now doing whatever it takes to help me share my music. One more thanks to the people who mean the most to me in this world, Mom and Dad, who have never stopped believing in me. So for those of you that wanted a peek into my musical past….here it is! Shawn ThomasI’m sure you’re expecting my bio to be all about my music, and my influences….but quite the contrary. It goes without saying that I am a musician and passionate about music, so no need to go there, and I’m not going to bore you with past band histories and people I’ve played with…because even though those parts of my life were important stepping stones to where I am now, it’s in the past. I would, however, like to share a little bit about how I got to where I am in life and where I plan to go from here. I am a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, or as I affectionately refer to it as…the “Iceburgh.†Even though cold dark weather and cold dark experiences, have brought me here, to Florida, a place that is the starting point to introducing the world to me and my music, Pittsburgh will always be my true home at heart....My songs are my life’s diary, and through my music, I am ready to share my life experiences with you. My ultimate goal….to touch you…to encourage you….to let you know…that I understand and that you are not alone…..and that things are never as bad as they seem. By doing this….then my dreams will be reached, and my diary will start to find some of the warmth, that has somehow seemed to elude me most of my life. So sit back, relax and share my life through my songs, and get ready, because the past is gone….and the future is Shawn Thomas!
