About Me

Just a few words for those who have no idea who we are… You can find us in Bydgoszcz, pl and at good venues all around the world ;) What we play is an energetic mixture of rock, punk and ska but we’re mature enough to add some violin and accordion to that picture. We want to cooperate with bands and musicians from other parts of our planet and take part in any interesting event we might blend with.

Actually. what is left of the initial VOLTAIRE is just two of us. But things are better this way, aren’t they.
We set the whole thing in the underground of the Fifth High School in Bydgoszcz. Almost unable to play (except for Karol who knew simplified versions of GUNS’N”ROSES solos), with partially demolished equipment & against the cleaner!
It was then, when we found out that GREEN DAY existed and we wanted to play exactly the same and so we did, almost. From the whole recording session in a small studio in WAPNO (the village name literal translation of which is the word, LIME), with AMIGA 1200, only one song found its way to the public, BULLSHIT was its name.
Darek Ciurek, surely poor guitarist but a great personality, we wish he was with us now and we miss him so badly. He is not dead, do not worry! Best wishes friend!
After Darek joined us, we started working on a new album “LEJKUP”(Polish spelling of WAKE UP) which we first recorded in CZAD studio in Swarzedz and then on the request of a would-be publisher in the F Studio. Eventually, the album didn’t come out (except for 2 songs in GAZETA PUNKOWA, THE PUNK MAGAZINE) which resulted in a nervous breakdown , which later on, after injections of antidepressants turned into sick enthusiasm and addiction to work on new songs.
‘CHOCOLATE’ (Rocker’s Publishing 2002) – as for those times and abilities this was our really good effort and outstanding achievement. Quite a sound it is (Greg worked on it quite a bit). It is entirely in English and for the first time enhanced by violins, accordion, the brass, vibraphone and some other stuff, with some good effects. This is our first, officially published album. We chose ROCKERS PUBLISHING and the album appeared in shops. We gave a few gigs with SOMETHING LIKE ELVIS, UPSIDE DOWN, POGODNO, PIDZAMA PORNO, SLAUGHTER AND THE DOGS and on the day of the WOSP final concert which is the greatest charity for children show in Poland and many other. For the needs of promotion we also shot a movie clip, full of skateboarding and director’s friends.
Then we start working on CACTUS REALITY taking a lot from BAD RELIGION and THE LEVELLERS. We did quite fine I guess and we record it at GREG KAZIMIERCZAK’s studio with the violinist, ANNA NOGAJ and THOMAS on accordion, who had already become a solid member of the band and RADOSLAW CEZARY CEREMUGA, who left us shortly after and is living in England now… We waved him bye bye with tears in our eyes hoping he comes back one day

And here it starts, a period of disillusion. We didn’t play concerts, we had no place to rehearse and some of us experienced life difficulties. Moreover, nobody wanted to publish our songs and so we gave up playing for some time. This is what you can call band’s coma.
There must have been something which made us wake up from it all! And here it comes, the POLISH RADIO became our publisher, we got a guide in the person of JACEK ZURAWSKI, all the songs got remixed by Szymon Sienko and we recorded the long awaited cover RUNAWAY, with violins by MICHAL, as a bonus.
To put it in a nutshell..Since then we’ve given quite a few concerts and we started working on some new songs. You might have seen us on tv but for the time being it’s not our natural environment ;) We’re just doing what we like best- giving concerts, rehearsing and recording new songs. Enjoy ;)
